I mwbaPasseroidei (mwbqPasseroidea) (mwbgAhlquist & Sibley, 1990)cite-ref-1[1] sono una mwcwsuperfamiglia di mwdauccelli mwdqpasseriformi dell'mwdginfraordine mwdwPasserida comprendente oltre 1600 mweaspecie di mwequccelli canori.

Distribuzione e habitat

La superfamiglia ha una distribuzione pressoché mwfqcosmopolita, essendo presente in tutti i continenti eccetto l'mwfgAntartide.cite-ref-fjeldsa2013-2-0[2]

Tassonomia

La superfamiglia Passeroidea è uno dei tre raggruppamenti dell'infraordine Passerida proposti nel 1990 dalla mwhqclassificazione degli uccelli di Sibley e Ahlquist.cite-ref-sibley1990-3-0[3]

Sebbene la mwiwmonofilia del raggruppamento sia stata in larga parte confermata da numerosi studi successivi,cite-ref-ericson2003-4-0[4]cite-ref-barker2004-5-0[5]cite-ref-beresford2005-6-0[6]cite-ref-fuchs2006-7-0[7] alcune delle famiglie incluse da Sibley e Ahlquist nella loro classificazione risultano attualmente collocate al di fuori dei Passeroidei. In particolare, la famiglia mwnaParamythiidae della mwnqNuova Guinea non viene più considerata parte della mwngradiazione passeroidea ma piuttosto si colloca tra i mwnwCorvida;cite-ref-8[8] anche i mwpaMelanocharitidae non sono più inquadrati tra i Passeroidei ma piuttosto sembrano rappresentare un mwpqclade basale all'interno dei Passeridacite-ref-9[9] mentre gli mwqgAlaudidae sono attualmente considerati parte della superfamiglia mwqwSylvioidea.cite-ref-ericson2003-4-1[4]cite-ref-barker2004-5-1[5]

Di contro alcune famiglie non considerate nella classificazione di Sibley e Ahlquist sono oggi invece inserite a pieno titolo tra i Passeroidei: tra di esse mwtqModulatricidae, mwtgPromeropidae, mwtwIrenidae, mwuaChloropseidae, che costituiscono rami basali della superfamiglia, con stretti legami di parentela con i mwuqNectariniidae.cite-ref-fjeldsa2013-2-1[2]cite-ref-barker2004-5-2[5]cite-ref-johanson2008-10-0[10]

Di recente i rapporti inter-familiari e intrafamiliari all'interno della superfamiglia sono stati ridiscussi sulla base delle risultanze di studi mwxwfilogenetici condotti sui passeroidei del mwyaNuovo Mondo, che hanno portato alla inclusione delle famiglie: mwyqCalyptophilidae, mwygIcteriidae, mwywMitrospingidae, mwzaNesospingidae, mwzqPasserellidae, mwzgPhaenicophilidae, mwzwRhodinocichlidae, mwaaSpindalidae, mwaqTeretistridae e mwagZeledoniidae.cite-ref-barker2013-11-0[11]cite-ref-barker2015-12-0[12]
